Strength United?s work supports families, prevents sexual and domestic violence, and provides healing and support for those who have survived abuse. It aims to take a traumatic event in an individual or family?s life mid turn it into a point of strength. Since 1985 it has served as a crisis-counseling agency, providing a 24-hour crisis hotline and accompaniments to forensic medical evidentiary exams. The agency services are available to individuals and families living in the San Fernando, San Gabriel and Antelope Valleys, the areas targeted by this proposal. Strength United provides onsite case management for victims of child maltreatment, domestic abuse and sexual assault, ensuring crisis intervention, emotional support, advocacy, follow-up services, and counseling. Strength United provides psychosocial assessments, safety planning, short and long term counseling, in-home counseling and case management, support groups, psycho-education, information, and linkages to other social services providers. Additional programs include Adoption Promotion Support and Services, Child Abuse Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment; Family Justice Center Project, Family Preservation, First Step Diversion (Commercially Sexually Exploited Children), Up Front Assessments and Victims of Crime. Strength United?s Prevention Education Department presents on a range of topics addressing all forms of violence in both a series and individual sessions format to all ages in schools, colleges, universities and the community at large.
