Design and analysis of a microstrip reflectarray requires the reflection dyad of a doubly periodic infinite array excited by a plane wave. In order to determine the reflection dyad one solves an integral equation for the induced currents in the unit cell patch by the method of moments. The conventional perturbation method for determining the conductor loss in terms of the surface impedance of the metal in the moment method produces diverging integrals when the basis functions contain edge conditions approaching infinity. We propose to implement a solution to the divergence problem. The number of basis functions in the moment method may be chosen for optimum compromise between accuracy and computer time. In addition, we propose to enhance the computer program by including the Green's function for a superstrate layer on top of the conducting patches.
